Andermatt - Engelberg

The Urner Haute Route, remote mountain terrain and big mountain skiing. This traverse is also known as the skiers haute route because of its high quality skiing during the tour.

Join us for a five day traverse through the mountains between Andermatt and Engelberg.

Program

The mountain terrain between Andermatt and Engelberg is huge. Many variations is possible. Depending on conditions, group size and the level of the group we choose the right route that fits best. Below is the classic route.

It’s preferable to stay in Engelberg the day before the tour starts. We will be back in Engelberg by lunch the last day of the tour. It’s possible to travel home in the afternoon.

DAY 1

Transfer from Engelberg to Realp, skinning up to Albert Heim hut, 2543m.

DAY 2

Climb up to Lochberg 3074m and skiing down to Göscheneralpsee. Overnight at Chelanalphütte, 2350m.

DAY 3

Big day on Sustenhorn, 3505m. Skiing down to Steingletscher Hotel where we spend the night.

DAY 4

Ascent of Fürfingersstock, 2993m, and skiing down to Sustlihütte, 2257m.

DAY 5

Ascent of Grassen, 2946m and ski descent down to Engelberg.

Please feel free to contact us about requests. Mars and April is good period of the season to do this tour.

Travel

Flight to Zürich. Train to Engelberg.

Accommodation

Mountain huts

Level required

Offpist & ski-touring skills. Endurance for Skitouring 5-7h/day and long descents.

Guide/Client ratio

We ski in small groups up to 6 clients per guide. If we are more than 6clients the trip is led by two UIAGM mountain guides. If you are alone and want to take part of a mixed coordinated group it’s usually also possible on chosen dates.

The skier needs a travel and accident insurance for the implementation of this activity.

Price

1300 CHF/person. Including five touring days with UIAGM mountain guide.

Additional costs:

Travel to Engelberg/Realp. 4 nights in mountain hut half board(ca. 340CHF). Lunch and drinks. Rental equipment. Travel and rescue insurance.

The price is based on the recommended daily fee by the Swiss Bergführerverband, SBV.
