Trettachspitze Traverse

Allgäuer alps

Trettachspitze with its shape and degree of difficulty, is sometimes referred to “Das Matterhorn des Allgäus”. With its high at 2595m, its the highest mountain in Allgäuer alps within the borders of Germany. We traverse the mountain by climbing up the north/east ridge and down the north/west ridge. The rock climbing grade is 2-3.  Its a rewarding climb on nice limestone with exceptional views over Bavarian and Austian alps.

Trettachspitze is located not far from the mountain village Oberstdorf in Southern Bavaria close to Austrian border. We start from  Gasthaus Einödsbach in beautiful Stillachtal. The hike up to the start of the climb is as beautiful as the climb itself…

Content

The Trettachspitze is a worthy climb and a must-do for all ambitious mountain lovers that visit or live in Allgäu region. Climbing Trettachspitze shall not be underestimated. Endurance and basic knowledge in rock climbing is needed for this classic climb.

Program

Its possible to do the Trettachspitze as a one day trip from the carpark at Fellhornbahn or two days with at overnight sleep at Gasthaus Einödsbach.

DAY 1

Walking up to Einödsbach. Over night sleep at the cosy family owned gasthaus.

DAY 2

Start of the climb is depending on time of year and current mountain conditions. If we start early, around 05.00 AM, we will be rewarded by fantastic sunrise up on the mountain. The hike up to start of the climb is around +1200m. From Einödsbach up to summit of Trettachspitze its +1500m. Normally it takes between 7-10hours to do the climb. We end the day at Einödsbach with a lunch and a beer with a great view over our climb!

Extended Program

I the region of Allgäu and close to Oberstdorf there is many nice climbs, hikes and Via Ferrata’s such as:

LEVEL REQUIRED

Trettachspitze requires 7-10 hours of hiking and climbing. Its an airy ridge climb in grade 2-3. This climb is also possible to do in light trail running style “light & fast” (but with use of harness/rope off course).

Expenses for the guide is not included in the daily fee(lifts, travel costs, lodging etc.)
The price is based on the recommended daily fee by the Swiss Bergführerverband, SBV.
