Saas Grund

The Saas valley has a great concentration of 4000m peaks and the villages Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund makes for a perfect base for classic mountaineering.

During six days we climb some of the classics in the area such as Weissmies, Lagginhorn, Allalinhorn and Rimpfischhorn.

Content

Climbing the Saas Valley is very rewarding. In six days you can climb as many as five 4000 meter peaks.

Program

The program of the week is depending on weather and mountain conditions.

DAY 1

Walking up to Almagellerhütte. We do some warm-up climbing in the afternoon on Dri Horlini.

DAY 2

Traverse of Weissmies 4017m by the south ridge. Climbing down to Weissmieshütte by the normal route on the north side of the mountain. Nice rest in the afternoon at the hut.

DAY 3

Climbing the Lagginhorn 4010m by the south ridge. We will spend the night down in Saas-Grund.

DAY 4

After nice hotel breakfast we heading up to Saas-Fee and we climb Allalinhorn 4027m.

DAY 5

Early start from Brittaniahütte towards Rimpfischhorn 4199m.

DAY 6

Another alpine start from Brittaniahütte towards Strahlhorn 4190m.

  • Täschhorn 4491m
  • Dom 4546m

LEVEL REQUIRED

Very good fitness is required to be able to climb above 4000 meter. One can expect between 4-10hours climbing per day. We climb on airy rock ridges in grade 2-3 and steep snow and ice.

6days. Four nights in mountain huts and one night in Hotel down the Saas Grund Valley.

The client needs a travel and accident insurance for the implementation of this activity.

  • Type of activity and where
  • Course seriousness and difficulty
  • Course length (day tour or bivinights included)
  • If going alone or in a bigger group
  • If booking a single day or several days
  • High season or low season

NOTE

Expenses for the guide is not included in the daily fee(lifts, travel costs, lodging etc.)
The price is based on the recommended daily fee by the Swiss Bergführerverband, SBV.

Crampons, harness, ice-axe, helmet, mountain boots, trekking poles.
