We sleep in mountain huts and enjoy local food and mountain culture.

The week is design to include varied adventureus activities such as:

  • 4nights in Swiss mountain hut
  • Wild alpine paths
  • Summits with spectacular views
  • Glacier travel
  • Via Ferrata

This trek is also a nice way to get introduced to easier alpine climbing. On the glaciers we use crampons and ice-axes and are always roped up together. We always start the treks with adequate training to be able to use this equipment properly.

Program, Urner Haute Route summer adventure trek

Engelberg is a quiet and peaceful place in summertime. Cozy huts, beautiful surroundings and less people than other parts in the alps. You stay at Hotel in Engelberg the night before the trek.

DAY 1

Preparing equipment and packing. Walking up to Grassen Biwak, 2647m. A 5-6hour walk from Engelberg Valley. The views over Titlis and Gross Spannort is magnificent. Grassen Biwak is an unguarded shelter and we cook our dinner ourselves.

DAY 2

Starting early morning with crampons and roped up. We enjoy the sun rise at Grassen summit 2946m. We continue the glacier walk to Stössensattel before we turn over to the other side of the valley. We spend the night at Steingletscher hotel. At the hotel we enjoy much-needed rest with a shower and full service.

DAY 3

Ascending Via Ferrata to Tierberglihütte, 2798m. Via Ferrata (Italien for “iron path”) is a protected climbing path equipped with ladders and steel cables for safety. We climb for 4 hours to reach the hut. Up here we are surrounded by big glaciers and peaks over 3500m. If conditions allows, it’s possible to continue up to Vorder Tierbergli 3090m, a pleasant summit with great views over 4000m peaks in Berner Oberland.

DAY 4

With an early start from Tierberglihütte we rope up for glacier travel and ascending Sustenhorn 3502m. After summit climb we cross Sustenlimi to the other side of the valley and walk down to Chelenalphütte 2336m.

DAY 5
